This is an individual unit which is approved by Ofqual and is listed on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). It forms part of the qualification in 'Progression' and can be used as part of an Award at Level One.
Who can enrol?
Anyone can enrol for this unit but it is particularly suitable for young people below the age of 16 and those who are 16-19.

What is the focus?
This unit is delivered through EAQ Approved Centres where the focus is on outdoor, horse-based learning.
What does the unit cover?
This unit includes:
- reasons for feeling confident or lacking confidence
- effective participation in social situations
- ways to manage stress
- personal goal-setting.
How will the unit be delivered?
You will attend sessions for 30 hours at your local EAQ Approved Centre to gather the evidence for this unit. This might happen in different ways for different people. Some may attend for three hours a week for 10 weeks. Others might choose to attend for one hour a week for 30 weeks or any other combination which works for you and the centre. You will spend time out of doors with the horses, gathering evidence about how you have met the assessment criteria.
How will I be assessed?
You will put together a portfolio of evidence showing how you have met the assessment criteria. This will include photographs and video of you with the horses as well as statements from your assessor.
This unit could be used as credit towards the qualifications in Progression.
