Communication and Safeguarding in Equine Assisted Learning
This training course is for facilitators who wish to work towards the qualification:
OCNLR Certificate in Facilitating Equine Assisted Learning Level 4 (qualification number 603/0601/4).
You need to:
- be over the age of 19
- have attended an Introduction Day
- have had a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
- and have completed or be working towards the unit: ‘Handling and Managing Horses in Equine Assisted Learning’.
Who can enrol?
Only those people who have attended an Introduction Day and have completed or are working towards the unit ‘Handling and Managing Horses in Equine Assisted Learning’ are able to enrol on this course.
When you begin the course we will assess your skills in English, Mathematics and Information Technology.
I haven’t attended those units, what do I do?
If you haven’t attended any of the training listed above, then you need to register on one of the Introduction Days. See the Events page for details.
What does the course cover?
Course sessions cover the two units:
- Communication Skills for Facilitators of Equine Assisted Learning
- Safeguarding in Equine Assisted Learning.
There will be discussions, theory and practical activities as well as observed teaching practice, case studies and assignments. You will put together a portfolio of evidence to show how you have met all the assessment criteria. As part of this portfolio, your performance will be observed and your communication skills will be assessed by your assessor.
Once you have completed these two units you can progress to the last three mandatory units in the OCNLR Certificate in Facilitating Equine Assisted Learning Level 4. These are:
- Planning Equine Assisted Learning
- Managing Learner Behaviour in Equine Assisted Learning
- Facilitate Equine Assisted Learning for Individuals and Groups.
